Q: When is it?

A: Shut Up & Write happens twice per month on the first and third Saturdays.

March sessions may be altered or cancelled due to Adelaide Fringe Festival and Adelaide Writers Week.

Q: What time does it start?

A: We meet at 10:00 AM.

Q: What time does it finish?

A: We finish up around 12:00 PM.

Q: So what is the format?

A: Pam or Jazz, sometimes both, will claim a table. This will usually be the “long table”. We assign 20 minutes for settling in, and then from 10:20 to 11:40 participants are asked to “shut up and write.” Writers may come and go from the table as they please, of course, but we ask that they do not disturb or distract others. We regroup and share thoughts and writings around 11:40.

Q: What if I can’t stay all that time?

A: That’s fine! You can come and go as you please. But if you arrive or depart during the quiet writing period, we ask that you do so without disturbing or distracting others.

Q: Where is it?

A: Page & Turner. Level 2 Myer Centre, Rundle Mall, Adelaide.

Q: Is the venue accessible?

A: Yes. There are no steps at the Rundle Mall entrances to the Myer Centre. Lifts and escalators will transport you to Level 2.

There are accessible toilets on Level 2 of the Myer Centre.

Q: How can I get there?

Car parking can be problematic in the CBD and so public transport is recommended.

The North Terrace entrance of Myer Centre is a 500m walk from Adelaide Railway Station. The Rundle Mall entrance is 800m from Adelaide Railway Station.

The North Terrace entrance of Myer Centre is a 200m walk from Art Gallery Tram Stop. The Rundle Mall entrance is 100m from Rundle Mall Tram Stop.

King William Street and North Terrace bus routes will get you close to the Mall.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: There is no charge.

Q: Do I need to book?

A: No. You can just turn up and join in.

Q: Is there wi-fi?

A: Page & Turner provides public wi-fi.

Q: Do I have to write poetry?

A: No. You can write anything you want. This is a time and space for you to work on your own writing projects.

Q: My question isn’t here. What do I do now?

A: You could try the archive or index pages. And if that fails, you can always email us.

For the love of poetry…
